Frequently Asked Questions

Questions we are asked most often about recruiting, vetting and deploying Nepali and Gurkha manpower — answered plainly.

Questions

What does Applied Gorkha Solutions do?
Applied Gorkha Solutions is a licensed Nepali recruitment and security company based in Lalitpur, in the Kathmandu Valley. We recruit, vet, and deploy Nepali and Gorkha personnel for employers in 20+ countries across four lines of service: manpower, security, maritime, and close protection.
Are you a licensed recruitment agency in Nepal?
Yes. Applied Gorkha Solutions Pvt. Ltd. holds Government of Nepal operating licence number 1739/081/082 and is based in Lalitpur, in the Kathmandu Valley.
What is the difference between your manpower service and your security services?
Manpower recruitment supplies workers an employer will manage directly — hospitality and front-office staff, industrial and manufacturing labour, landscaping, housekeeping, and laundry. The security, maritime, and close protection lines supply a capability rather than a headcount: personnel deploy as a team, under our documented chain of command, against a brief that we report back on. The recruitment and vetting pipeline behind both is the same; what differs is the standard a candidate is held to and who commands them once deployed.
Which countries do you supply workers to?
We currently support operators in 20+ countries across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas. Placements range from single vacancies to mobilisations of several hundred workers. If a destination is not one we already operate in, brief us and we will confirm whether the documentation chain for that country is one we can complete.
How is every candidate vetted?
Every candidate passes identity and document verification, employment-history checks, criminal-record screening, and medical clearance, and is interviewed and assessed in person in Nepal before reaching a client shortlist. Records are retained so an employer, auditor, or end client can trace exactly how a worker was cleared and by whom.

Glossary

Industry terms, explained

Plain-English definitions of the security and recruitment vocabulary used across this site.

BMP4
Best Management Practices to Deter Piracy and Enhance Maritime Security in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. It is the reference standard the shipping industry, flag states, and marine insurers expect for transits through high-risk waters, setting out how a vessel should be assessed, hardened, routed, and crewed.
Close Protection
Executive and VIP protection — discreet security details that safeguard a principal while travelling or at a residence. Work typically includes threat assessment, route planning, and advance reconnaissance before the principal moves.
Gurkha / Gorkha
Soldiers originating from the hill districts of Nepal with a lineage of service under British and allied command spanning over two centuries. 'Gurkha' is the more common spelling in military and international use; 'Gorkha' is the spelling of the original Nepali principality. Both refer to the same people and tradition.
Manpower recruitment
The sourcing, vetting, documentation, and deployment of workers to an employer who will manage them directly. In the Nepal context this is regulated by the Department of Foreign Employment and covered under a government operating licence.
Chain of command
The documented line of authority through which orders flow and reporting goes back in a security deployment. Applied Gorkha Solutions runs all security, maritime, and close protection details under a documented chain of command with after-action reporting.
Due diligence
The verification process every candidate passes: identity and document validation, employment-history checks, criminal-record and sanctions screening, and an on-site interview and assessment. Procedures align with international compliance and client-specific requirements.
