Project Overview
In 2004–2005, Applied Gorkha Solutions was entrusted with a challenging and time-critical manpower requirement from Arab Orient Group, Kuwait, to supply approximately 350 Nepalese security guards for deployment at KBR project sites in Kuwait.
The requirement presented a significant logistical and recruitment challenge. The entire manpower requirement had to be sourced, screened, processed and prepared for deployment within approximately two months.
The project demanded rapid mobilisation without compromising candidate quality, documentation, coordination or deployment readiness.
The Challenge
The project involved several critical challenges:
- Large-volume recruitment: Approximately 350 security guards had to be mobilised within a very short period.
- Two-month deadline: The recruitment and deployment process had to be completed within approximately eight weeks.
- Security-sensitive assignments: Candidates were required to be suitable for deployment to major project sites.
- Candidate screening: A large pool of applicants needed to be identified and screened efficiently.
- Documentation and processing: Candidate documentation, medical examinations, approvals and other formalities had to be coordinated within a compressed timeframe.
- International coordination: Effective coordination was required between the recruitment team in Nepal and the receiving organisation in Kuwait.
- Deployment logistics: Selected workers had to be prepared and mobilised in an organised manner to meet the client's operational requirements.
Our Approach
Applied Gorkha Solutions adopted a rapid-response recruitment and mobilisation strategy.
1. Rapid Candidate Sourcing
Our recruitment network was immediately activated to identify a large pool of suitable security personnel.
2. Structured Screening & Selection
Candidates were screened against the required criteria, with emphasis on:
- Security experience and suitability
- Physical fitness
- Professional conduct
- Background and documentation
- Ability to work in demanding environments
- Readiness for overseas deployment
3. Parallel Processing
Rather than processing candidates sequentially, recruitment and documentation activities were conducted simultaneously wherever possible.
This allowed the team to compress the overall mobilisation timeline while maintaining control over the process.
4. Documentation & Compliance
The recruitment team coordinated the necessary documentation, medical processing and other pre-departure requirements to ensure candidates were deployment-ready.
5. Deployment Coordination
AGS maintained close coordination with Arab Orient Group to align candidate availability, documentation and travel arrangements with the client's deployment schedule.
The Result
Applied Gorkha Solutions successfully supported the mobilisation of approximately 350 Nepalese security guards for deployment through Arab Orient Group, Kuwait, to KBR project sites within the challenging two-month timeframe.
The project demonstrated AGS's ability to:
Recruit at scale → Screen efficiently → Process rapidly → Mobilise internationally → Deliver within a demanding deadline
Why This Project Matters
The 2004–2005 KBR deployment became an important example of Applied Gorkha Solutions' capability in large-scale, time-sensitive international manpower mobilisation.
The project demonstrated that a Nepal-based recruitment organisation could respond quickly to a substantial overseas manpower requirement while coordinating multiple stages of recruitment and deployment under significant time pressure.
It also established an important foundation for AGS's subsequent work in supplying Nepalese manpower to international employers and projects.
