The government of Nepal has instructed state agencies to Prioritize domestic products and services when making purchases.
The directive, issued by the office of the prime minister and Council of Ministers, applies to federal ministries, Provincial governments, local bodies and Nepal diplomatic missions abroad.
Under the new policy, public institutions, are encouraged to choose locally produced stationary, furniture, construction materials and food products whenever suitable domestic options are available.
The government says the initiative is aimed at strengthening Nepali businesses, creating employment opportunities and reducing reliance on imported goods.
The move is expected to provide a larger market for domestic producers and encourage businesses to increase production and investment.
